The Need For Voter Reform In The New Political Age

103 2
I have always been an active voter since eighteen and did my best to contribute to the political process though not at any major grass roots level nor in any consistent letter writing, representative influencing basis.
However, now with the changes, mis-representation and really shady practices of our law makers now coming to light, I have taken a keen interest in the whole process of how we get here from there or better yet, how we're going to somewhere positive from here.
This process is always contributory and yes one must vote! Period.
Up unto that point of walking into the polls, one needs to factor in a number of aspects: 1) The issues at hand.
2) Education on every aspect of these issues.
3) The candidate in question.
4) The candidate's character.
5) The candidate's history.
6) The candidates experience.
7) And overall of that, the underlying issues that may very well be hidden.
Fortunately with the social media blitz that is ever around us, we can look deeper into the politics, policies and policy makers in regards to any issues that come up and the surprises that always seem to go with.
This happens fast with Tweets, Facebook likes or a blog post and even a YouTube video coming out.
So the education part has gotten at lot more focused but maybe still not easy.
It just that it is nice to know that we're not being left in the dark and fed...
Regardless, it is still up to us, the voters to get educated understand what the facts and issues are and process them properly so that we can proceed intelligently and in an organized fashion.
For some reason, ambiguity is a platform that the ignorant leaders like to run on and then it becomes a money and popularity contest.
This simply won't work any longer.
You now have at your disposal, free sources to get the facts, the underground news, the gossip, the facts and the truth straight to find your way to a very reasonable and intelligent conclusion and a much better chance at casting the right vote.
This 'right vote' will not happen if you simply don't take the effort and worse, don't take enough effort and expect a positive outcome.
So moving forward, you'll want to get on Twitter, follow the 'not so mainstream' news reports, jump on a 'special' Facebook page and setup something that people can connect with you on and more.
What's more? Go to the various blogs, websites and areas of quality, 'under the table' chatter about the issues and sign up! Sign up for email blasts, tweets and more.
Get on the lists of organizations that are trying to make a difference.
To avoid getting 'spammed to death', simply setup accounts that will work for the specific purpose of staying up with political and current events news with the critical issues affecting you today.
With that, I would sincerely hope you have some ideas to get started with be a 'reformed voter'.
