The cliffs and rocks have been shaped by the sea over countless centuries, forming some interesting shapes not least the unique, two-holed rocky section that juts out into the sea. Cerro da Vila (Roman ruins)

However you can see just this if you head for Cerro da Vila, not too far from the town. It is a strangely eerie site and is hard to imagine people once living here. While the buildings are largely no more, you can see the footprints of where they used to stand. It is a great day out and and alternative to spending the day on the beach if you fancy a break from the sun.
