- 1). Lock the bike in an upright position by putting it in a bike stand for the installation.
- 2). Remove the engine casing from the bike to access the transmission. The screwdriver you need to remove the casing will vary depending on the make and model of the motorcycle.
- 3). Lubricate the o-ring on the top of the oil filter with a layer of transmission oil. Use a transmission oil that is compatible with the bike's system.
- 4). Insert the oil filter into the round port on the transmission. Twist it in half a circle and stop. This secures the oil filter, and the engine running completes the seal. If you turn the filter more than this, pressure from the engine can cause the gasket to tear.
