- 1). Turn off the power to your 200-amp breaker panel. Large residential panels have a “kill switch” to turn off power to the home on the outside, connected to the electrical meter. Just flip the switch outside and your power will shut off.
- 2). Slide your new breaker into an empty slot on the panel. It should fit snugly into the slot when you apply some pressure. It’s now installed.
- 3). Install the new circuit that the breaker is meant for, if desired.
- 4). Turn the power to your panel back on.
