How to Restore a Security Center Control Panel
- 1). Click on the "Start" button located on the Windows task bar to open the Windows Start menu, and then find "Run" under "Programs." If your PC keyboard has a Windows key (a keyboard key with the Windows logo on it), hold down the Windows key, then press the "R" key on your keyboard to open the "Run" tool.
- 2). Enter "REGEDIT" in the "Open" field, then press "OK" or hit "Enter" on your keyboard to open the Registry Editor. Depending on your PC settings, you may see the following question, "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Be sure to select "Yes."
- 3). Go to the following folder, "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load" and search the right pane to find all Control Panel icons that have been disabled, including the Security Center.
- 4). Delete the "don't load" sub key if you are not sure which Control Panel icons have been disabled. Delete the "don't load" sub key by right-clicking on the sub key and then selecting "Delete." Upon deleting the "don't load" sub key, all Control Panel icons, including the Security Center, that did not load before will be restored.
