Recovering a Flip Movie
- 1). Pick a "File Recovery Software" package. There are many products available from a variety of software publishers, and some are free while others require a fee. Select one that you prefer.
- 2). Double-click the web browser icon on your desktop to launch the application. Visit the download page of the file recovery software, and then click "Download." Pick a folder on your computer to download the file, and then click "Save."
- 3). Double-click the ".exe" file, and then follow the on-screen directions to complete installation of the file. Launch the application by clicking the "Start" button and then clicking "All Programs," and then finally click the name of the recovery software from the program list.
- 4). Insert the Flip camera into a USB port on your computer. It will load as a logical drive, and the FlipShare application launches automatically.
- 5). Run the recovery software program by clicking "Scan" or "Recover." A prompt asks you to select the drive to search for recoverable files. Pick the logical drive that represents the Flip camera. Click "OK" to run the program. The application lists the files it finds that have been deleted.
- 6). Look at the "Date" field of the files to determine the file you want to recover. Right-click on the file, and then click "Restore." The file is moved back into your visible list of files on the Flip camera. The file name is preceded by a "_," meaning it has been deleted.
- 7). Right-click on the recovered file, and then click "Rename." Replace the "_" with a "V," and then press "Enter." The file name should now resemble other flip video names such as "VID100.avi" and is ready to use.
