Cruise Basics - How to Get to Your Cruise on Time and Be Sure You Are on the Ship
This simple question is surprisingly difficult for people who are preparing for a cruise for the first time.
They are afraid that if they are not there on time, the ship will leave without them, and they are right! There are a few simple tips that you can follow to ensure that you are on the ship and do not get left behind.
The best way to ensure that you are there on time, is to arrive the night before.
This is also my favorite method.
If your ship is due to sail on the Sunday, for example, then book a flight for Saturday morning.
If you are sailing in the winter and you live in a cooler climate, then you will truly appreciate the extra day of warm.
Book a hotel room for the preceding night and enjoy a day in Florida or Texas or wherever your cruise is sailing from.
The other option is to book your cruise and your flight through the cruise line on their website.
The reason that I list this option second is that it is less pleasing than the first, but a little less expensive as well.
The main benefit of this option is convenience and piece of mind.
If you visit the cruise lines website, you can easily book both the cruise and the flight, then the cruise line staff will meet you at the airport and show you to your shuttle.
The best part about it is that they know that you are coming and the ship will wait for you.
