The stereotype of vegetarian food in Spain is that it doesn't exist. The urban myth about vegetarianism in Spain is of asking for a vegetarian meal and seeing it come with flecks of ham, which apparently 'doesn't count as meat' in Spain.

There is some truth to this perception, but it is not entirely accurate. And in Seville, with its numerous vegetarian foreign visitors, an emerging focus on health and with the failing economy, vegetarian tapas is a lot easier to find than it used to be.

1. Catalina La Heroina

Not an exclusively vegetarian restaurant, but there are plenty of non-meat tapas options here. Dishes include Camembert in tomato jam, eggplant pie with goats cheese, rice with mushrooms, cheese and black truffle oil.
The meat dishes are just as inventive and the wine is served well and at the correct temperature.

2. Huelva Ocho

Huelva Ocho has a tourist-friendly vibe, with salsa classes, mojito nights and free nightly flamenco shows. Ignore the fact that the backpackers' pub crawl begins here and instead enjoy the ten vegetarian tapas or the 8€ menu del dia (daily special).
