How to Troubleshoot the HP OfficeJet L7680
- 1). Run a print quality diagnostic to check a number of print quality issues. Press "Setup" on the printer, choose "Print Report," "Print Quality Page" and press "Ok." The diagnostic shows any ink or printhead issues.
- 2). Check to make sure the media you use meets the printer specifications. Cards, envelopes and paper all must meet certain criteria. If it is too moist or too rough, you may have issues with print quality.
- 3). Use another print setting if your ink smears. In the document you want to print, select "Print" from the "File" menu, then "Setup," "Properties" or "Preferences." Change the setting to "Normal" if it is set to "Best.". If you must use "Best" for the print quality, allow plenty of time for your document to dry.
- 4). Check to make sure you aren't printing in grayscale if the wrong colors print or the graphics print in black and white. Go to "File," "Print," "Setup" and then "Properties" or "Preferences" and make sure "grayscale" is not checked.
- 1). Fan the media before you put it in the loading tray if the printer does not pick up the paper.
- 2). Ensure the paper guides are set correctly and are snug against the stack of paper if the paper does not feed.
- 3). Remove any curls or bends from the paper by bending it in the opposite direction.
- 4). Extend the output tray all the way to ensure media comes out correctly.
- 5). Keep the tray full, but not overloaded to prevent the printer from picking up multiple pages.
- 1). Load the media correctly with the width and length guide snug against the edges of the paper.
- 2). Make sure the document size is the same as the media that you load in the printer.
- 3). Check the margins to make sure they don't exceed the printable area of the printer.
- 4). Set the page orientation to the correct setting for the document you want to print. Go to "File," "Print," "Setup" and then "Properties" or "Preferences." Set the page orientation to portrait to print vertically and landscape to print horizontally.
