When my friends Loretta & Neal moved to El Centro, California the house they rented came with a “herd” of outdoor cats. Neither of them were cat people, but they agreed to feed & take care of the cats. Then they decided to get a couple of kittens because they were so cute, but only to keep outside, because they didn’t want cats in the house. One of the kittens was Barney. To say that Barney is challenged is to be charitable.

He has his own way about him – he can climb on the roof, but can’t climb down – the same for trees. He can get into the crawl space but not out of it. When Neal & Loretta moved to their new house of course the cats came with them. Because they were on a busier street, they really worried about the cats so they became indoor/outdoor cats, except for Barney. Neal said Barney was too dumb to stay outside so he became an indoor only cat. As you can see by this picture, he has adapted well. I think that Barney is the smartest cat I know – he won over two people that had never owned cats, he made it inside & he has a great life. Oh, he also has Princess Jane & Punky (cats) to keep him company along with Rowdy the dog. Not bad for a dumb cat!
