Elucidated Information

I frequently wonder what has happened to honesty.
Wouldn't it be a pleasant feeling to know that problems are pinpointed and clarified, and that information made public was elucidated with glimmering truth.
Even a flicker of truthfulness would be a wonderful, empowering sight.
Whether we are talking business, politics, religion, or individual character, lying seems to be much more natural than telling the truth.
Sure, the truth may carry consequences, but in the long run, these are nothing compared to the penalties and costs of deception.
Why would a car company mislead the public when it comes to the safety of a vehicle? If the brakes are shoddy, the air bag dangerous, and the steering system carelessly assembled, why wouldn't someone exclaim, "Stop! This has to be fixed now!" Instead it takes multiple injuries and fatalities coupled with lawsuits before culpability is admitted.
While often we can take the stance, "These things happen", when it happens again and again there is a definite problem.
Exposure will arise sooner or later, so why not address issues now and thus prevent unnecessary injury and pain? With the political season upon us - as if it had ever left - shouldn't we expect politicians to offer elucidated information? We would feel free to interpret laws and event as we seek clarification, knowing that integrity trumped all other characteristics of the issue.
There might still be confusion and misunderstanding, but fairness and reliability would rule because we live in a world of decency and morality.
With these, government secrets and lies would be impossible.
Citizens might be puzzled about certain decisions but they would know full well that the best interests of every American served as the Number 1 priority and they would be educated as to why and how come.
Talking from the left side of the mouth and then reversing to the right with the breeze of the political moment would vanish as straightforwardness reigned with smooth sailing straight ahead.
Religion and religious leaders could benefit from a dose of elucidated information, too.
A church then would never allow children to become prey of predators veiled in priestly robes.
Youth would not find glory in joining radical groups who kill on a whim and a whisper of a splendid afterlife.
Instead they would live by a "live and let live" understanding and acceptance.
We may think and pray in individual ways, but we are a united community with borrowed time on this earth.
We would never again see abject poverty a block away from ornately decorated houses of worship that have been built upon the blood and labor of the poor.
Tithes would rid us of poverty through education and opportunity.
All of these are possible if humans, every one of them, also strolled through life with an illuminated view of the possibility of perfection in the world.
Jealousy would vanish; vengeance would disappear.
As equal humans there would be no need.
I am not speaking socialism equality here where money creates equality, but rather the ideal that each person is equally valuable with much to contribute in unique and wonderful ways.
Business, politics, and religion would don new coats with individuals of exquisite quality.
This may sound idealistic, and so it is, but just imagine the wonderful rewards we all would enjoy.
