    • 1). Cut five pieces of 2x4 wood with the saw. The lengths should be 13 1/8 inches, 13 7/8 inches, 14 1/4 inches, 15 1/8 inches and 16 inches. Sand the ends with sandpaper to smooth them out.

    • 2). Lay each bar vertically next to each other on a flat surface with the longest bar on the left and the shortest on the right. There should be a small gap of 1/2 inch between each bar.

    • 3). Lay two 2x4 pieces of wood on their sides to act as supports for the bars. They should angle toward each other slightly on the right to accommodate the smaller bars.

    • 4). Cut two pieces of felt to line the top of the support bars and glue it to the top of the bars with hot glue.

    • 5). Lay the bars on top of the supports so that the longest bar is on the left and the shortest bar is on the right.

    • 6). Measure the gap between the two support bars at the right end, then measure the gap at the left end. Cut two pieces of 2x4 to insert into the gap, then hammer nails through the support bar into these gap pieces for extra support.

    • 7). Drill a small hole through each sound bar at the point where it rests on the top support bar and also at the point where it rests on the bottom support bar. Insert a long nail into each hole and hammer it into the support bar. Cut off the nail head with wire cutters if you wish.
