When planning a garden wedding you must remember to always keep your guests in mind. Consider their comfort, and with every step of your planning be aware they will be outside in the elements and prepare for every contingency. Your well thought out garden wedding is one your guests will enjoy and remember forever. - If you are having your wedding in a garden that has no hardscape walkways, be sure your guests are aware of this. Ladies will want to wear very low heels or flats and plan for that when purchasing their outfit. If you will have a patio or dance floor at the reception, even if under tent, let them know that also so they may bring a change of shoes if they prefer.
- If you are having the wedding in a garden a long distance from the parking area, have valets park your guests' cars to shorten their walk. Station someone at the valet area to carry any gifts for your guests so they can walk unencumbered to the where the ceremony will take place.
- When your guests arrive for your garden wedding, offer them a bottle of cold water the may take with them to their seat. Stow large ice-filled beverage tubs behind the last row of seats on either side of the aisle, and be sure every usher knows to offer one to the guest before they escort them to their seat.
- Garden weddings are beautiful but sometimes weather can take its toll on your guests. Rent fans to circulate the air in a tent, and make handheld fans that have your wedding ceremony program printed on them that ushers can present to your guests when seating them. If there is a possibility it may be at all cold, rent tent heaters to take the chill off.
- While many garden weddings utilize large tents for the dining tables and dance floor, position high-top cocktail tables outside the tent perimeter for those guests that may like to get a breath of fresh air or for guests who smoke.
- If your garden wedding lasts into the evening, be prepared to spray the gardens with bug repellent prior to your guests' arrival, and place citronella candles throughout the grounds.
