Nevada is mostly desert and mountains, with a few large population centers like Carson City and Reno. You will usually not find rallies and motorcycle events every weekend, but when the state does throw rallies, it does so in style. Nevada's largest events, the Laughlin River Run and the Street Vibrations rallies, draw between 25,000 and 50,000 riders. Motocross trials, single-day poker runs and more modest rallies are also part of the Nevada motorcycle rally year. - Laughlin River Run is Nevada's largest motorcycle event, taking place from April 21 to 25, 2010. This year marks the Nevada motorcycle event's 27th year and features a poker run, vendors, live music and bike show. According to Lightning Customs, some 50,000 riders are expected in 2010. The River Run takes over the entire town of Laughlin and does not have a specified center.

Practice and qualifying rounds precede the main event at 7 p.m., making this a full-day event. There is a "pit party" held from 12:30 until 6 p.m., featuring music, food and vendors. A family-friendly area is kept alcohol-free. The event is the grand finale in the ongoing Monster Energy tournament and features world-class motocross riders. Tickets and shuttle buses are priced accordingly: A one-way shuttle bus ticket from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is $10 as of April 2010.

Both Nevada motorcycle events are fairly typical rallies with group rides, vendors, contests, music and games. The spring rally is held in Sparks from June 4 to 6, and the fall rally is Reno's contribution. Participants with their motorcycles pay a fee, but otherwise the spring rally is free to the general public.
The fall rally is a larger-scale event held from Sept. 22 to 26, hosting more than 25,000 motorcycles, according to Thunder Press. While the main show is in Reno, there are also events in Carson City, Virginia City and the surrounding regions. There is an entry fee with pre-registration possible, and some of the proceeds are given to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. The registration gives access to meals, secured parking and other perks. All participants must be at least 18 years of age and carry motorcycle insurance.
