How Do I Get Cash on the EBT in California?
- 1). Select a store to withdraw your cash at, such as a grocery or convenience store. Stores that allow cash withdrawals post a "Quest" decal similar to the logo found on the back of your card.
- 2). Swipe your card at the checkout location. Some stores allow you to receive cash back without making an additional purchase, and some stores require that you buy an item to receive money. You may use your EBT card to purchase items in the store.
- 3). Enter your PIN and select "Cash". This allows you to use your cash benefits on the card.
- 4). Enter the amount you want back in cash. If you make a purchase at the same time, the amount of the transaction equals the price of the items plus your cash back. In general, there is no additional fee for receiving cash using this method. If a store charges a transaction fee, the fee must be posted in a visible location.
- 1). Select an ATM to withdraw your cash benefits. Some ATMs offer surcharge-free transactions (see Resources). If you select a surcharge-free ATM, no transaction fee is added to your withdrawal. Other ATMs may charge a fee for dispensing your cash, but you must be notified of the amount prior to completing your transaction.
- 2). Insert your card and enter your PIN.
- 3). Select the option to make a withdrawal. Select the "From Checking" option.
- 4). Enter the amount you wish to withdraw and receive your cash.
