Spring cleaning involves a deeper amount of cleaning than people give their homes on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Due to the incredible amount of detail that goes along with spring cleaning, it is often a wise idea to keep a list of the things that you have done and that are still yet to be done. Use a list that outlines the needs in each room separately. Once you have your tasks organized, cleaning will be easier and more effective.

    Kitchen

    • Using a dusting cloth, clean dirt and dust from the tops of cabinets, door frames, baseboards, chairs, tables and window sills. Use a vacuum to clean out the coils of the refrigerator and the stove vent. Be certain to wash out the inside and outside of the microwave, the garbage can and the refrigerator. Also, remove any spoiled or out-of-date foods. Wash the windows and the light fixtures. Clean any small appliances such as toasters and can openers. Remove items from cabinets and replace shelve lining if needed. Wipe off pots, pans and bowls as well as the inside of the cabinet before returning the items. Remove all boxed and canned goods from shelves and throw away anything that is out of date.

    • Begin by dusting baseboards, door frames, window sills, lamp shades and any figurines or ornaments sitting around. Vacuum the mattress and box springs. Turn and rotate the mattress. Vacuum and clean under the bed. Shampoo the carpets. Clean out closets and get rid of any clothes that do not fit or that you no longer wear. Organize your closet by style or season of clothing. Wash the curtains and the windows. Wash the sheets.

    Living Room

Pull out the furniture and vacuum or mop the floor underneath them. Vacuum under and between the cushions. Wash the windows. Wash the curtains and the blinds. You may also want to change out the curtains and use thinner, spring-designed drapes.

    Bathroom

    • Thoroughly clean the tubs, showers, toilet and sinks. Remove and clean the shower curtain. Clean out the drawers and cabinets. Dust the baseboards, window sills and door frames. Wash the windows. Clean out any closets. Wash the tub rugs. Mop the floor and clean the mirrors.

    Office
