104 11
    • 1). Collect as much information about the website containing a false description as you can. Make a note of the trading address of the company that runs the site, telephone numbers, and web and email addresses. You could also do a little search engine-based detective work yourself to see if you can find out the names of the owners or directors of the company that owns the site.

    • 2). Navigate to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) website and click on "File a complaint." IC3 is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) set up to alert the relevant authorities to suspected criminal or civil violations online.

    • 3). Read through the disclaimer and privacy policy and click on "I accept" to lodge your complaint.

    • 4). Answer the tick box questioned presented, fill in your personal information and give a detailed description of the misinformation you found.

    • 5). Review your complaint and click on "Submit." Your complaint will be forwarded to the relevant agency which will contact you should further information be required.
