- 1). Open the print cartridge cover on the printer or copier. For Xerox laser printers, the print cartridge cover should be at the front or right side of the printer. For Xerox printers, the toner can be accessed by opening the front door of the unit.
- 2). Grasp the used toner cartridge by its handle and lift it out of the printer or copier. Set the cartridge aside for recycling.
- 3). Remove the replacement toner cartridge from the box and remove any packaging materials used to protect it while in transit. The toner cartridge has a piece of tape holding the toner in place. Pull that tape by grasping the tab at the end of the cartridge to release the toner powder inside the cartridge.
- 4). Insert the new toner cartridge in the printer or copier. Close the cartridge cover door. Place the used cartridge in the box that housed the new cartridge. Attach the prepaid shipping label and send it back for recycling.
