The Right Way to Set Up An Online Dating Site Profile

103 6
Online dating sites are becoming more and more widely popular.
There are millions of people that have personal ads on dating sites.
Dating sites match people to their "ideal" dating partners.
Several factors are used to determine who matches who, such as looks, personality, religion, employment status, and more.
In order for you to stand out amongst all the matches a person might get, you need to have a good profile.
A profile is a place where you can tell about yourself.
You can describe yourself and what you are looking for in a partner.
You can also post photos of yourself.
There are some things to do and things to avoid in order to have a profile that will stand out above your "competition".
First let's start with the things to avoid.
When writing your description avoid; talking about your past relationships.
Your potential partners do not want to know about your ex partners and why your last relationships failed.
That is information you can tell them face to face at some point.
Also, avoid talking about politics and religion.
These are touchy topics to discuss at anytime let alone in a personals ad.
You can list your political and religious preferences, but leave it at that.
And very importantly do not talk about sex or your need or want to have sex, unless you are posting to an adult oriented dating site or a "hook-up site".
Another thing to avoid is talking about your financial status and the required financial status of your potential partner.
Never give out personal contact information such as your phone number and address, this is very important! Again, these are all things you can discuss together once you have a face to face date.
The main purpose of a dating site profile is to introduce your self to people.
Things you should talk about are your interests, hobbies, and things you enjoy doing for fun.
You should explain what type of person you are searching for.
Also be up front of the type of relationship you are looking for, do you want something just casual or something more long term? If you have children, be very honest about that fact.
Make sure you say how many kids you have up front.
You don't want to meet someone and then tell them about your kids, unfortunately that will be a deal breaker for most people.
If you are not posting a photo, be honest about your appearance.
The biggest fear of online daters is meeting someone and having them not look like they described.
Being honest is the best way, right away.
Posting photos of yourself is a great way for your profile to stand out more.
But there are some photos to avoid.
Never post of a photo that shows you with an ex-partner.
Its better to not post a photo at all, than to post one of you and your ex.
Also, never post photos of your kids.
Sure it is very cute to see kids but it's not appropriate for dating sites.
Never post nude photos or distasteful photos of yourself.
Unless you are posting to an adult oriented dating site, these types of photos are not appropriate.
A good photo to post is one that shows you in natural light, that shows the real you.
Avoid posting pictures that were taking professionally.
People find it hard to believe that a professional looking photo is really a photo of you at all.
