  Paper is the conventional medium used for first anniversary gifts; clocks are the modern present for celebrating one year in a relationship. Second to Fifth Anniversary

  Items made of linen or lace make a great modern eighth anniversary gift, which includes lingerie. Pottery or a gift made of bronze like a tie pin or cuff links can be presented to a boyfriend or husband.
  
  Similar to the third anniversary, leather gifts make a ninth anniversary significant -- it is also appropriate to give pottery on this anniversary.
  
  

10th Anniversary

  A gift of diamond jewelry has become customary for celebrating 10 years of marriage -- tin or aluminum gifts are conventional. This is also a time to upgrade your wife's original wedding ring by adding a bigger diamond, or giving her a new diamond-studded wedding band. A tin jewelry box, complete with a jewelry gift for your wife like a brooch or pair of earrings is fitting, and a bouquet of daffodils will make the gift complete, as this is the 10th anniversary flower. Diamond tie pins, or a watch or bracelet that features diamonds, is a sophisticated gift to present to your husband.
  
  

15th Anniversary

• A bouquet of roses is used to signify 15 years of marriage, although these flowers also have the general connotation of love or romance. Couples should exchange watches for this anniversary, or give gifts made of crystal. These can include a crystal vase to place the roses in, a coffee table with a crystal top or a picture of you and your mate in a large crystal frame to display in the family room.
  
  

25th Anniversary

• The 25th anniversary is the silver anniversary -- gifts made from this precious metal are both conventional and modern. Silver jewelry, like earrings, a charm bracelet, or a necklace, are great gifts to surprise your wife. You can also have a decorative plate engraved for your mate with a loving message like "Thank you for being such a wonderful husband." A silver silk tie and pocket square set is an elegant gift for your husband.
  
  

50th Anniversary

• Gold gifts make the golden -- or 50th anniversary -- especially memorable. Fine gold jewelry always makes a classic gift, but you can also surprise your mate with an array of gourmet chocolates accented with edible gold leaf, or have your original wedding photo painted by a professional artist in a gold-plated frame, A mahogany frame with a gold plate that says something like "happy anniversary" or "I love you" works, as well. It's also appropriate to present your wife with a bouquet of violet flowers for this anniversary, or to give your husband an accessory in violet, like a fedora or tie and suspenders.
