How to Throw a Speed Dating Party
- 1). Prepare a list of guests. Ensure that the guest list is even-numbered and that each attendee will have a date throughout the evening, so no one gets left out.
- 2). Make invitations letting people know that they are invited to the speed dating party. Ask for an RSVP, so that you can be sure the number of guests will remain even. Pick invitations that convey the theme of the party, such as invitations with a picture of a clock.
- 3). Decorate for the speed dating party. Set up small tables with two chairs, so that guests will be facing each other. Place a timer and table numbers on each table, so that guests will know where to sit and how long they have for their date. Put snacks and drinks on the table the night of the speed dating party.
- 4). Set up clipboards for each guest. These can be used during the party and be offered as party favors. Create guides that tell each guest where to sit throughout the course of the party. This helps prevent confusion. Supply the guests with clipboards, paper and pens, so that guests can write down names and other information about their dates.
- 5). Set the timers before each date. Speed dates should last from 3 to 5 minutes. To help start conversations, suggest questions that daters can ask one another during their dates.
