How to Change a BackTrack 4 Password
- 1). Log in to BackTrack 4. Type the text "sudo su." This opens the password window. Enter a new root password and hit the "Enter" key.
- 2). Restart your computer if you are using the Linux operating system and do not know your credentials.
- 3). Press "Esc" at the grub screen. Click on the first option at the window and type "E."
- 4). Mouse-over the kernel line and tap the "E" key. Tap the "Tab" key, then "Esc." Type "E," then press the arrow keys until "ro" switches to "rw."
- 5). Click on the end of the line and type "init=/bin/bash" and press "Enter," then "B." Wait for the prompt and enter the text "passwd root." Type your password two times an press "D" while you hold down the "Ctrl" key.
- 6). Press and hold your computer's power button until your computer restarts.
