How to Register a Limited Company Name
- 1). Choose a business name that is different from other LLCs in your state. Include "limited company" in your business name and don't use words that your state forbids.
- 2). Provide an articles of organization document which you get from your state LLC office.The document is legal evidence that you are a limited liability company. Include your business name and address on the form and the names of company members. File the completed form with the Secretary of State. Check whether your state requires the document to be submitted to another office (See reference 1).
- 3). Create an operating agreement even if your state does not require it. An operating agreement lays out the responsibilities of members of the company and also the financial arrangements.
- 4). Obtain licenses and permits after you have registered your business. Get the correct documents for your particular state, since licenses and permits vary from state to state.
