Planning for the Good Life

103 18
I came home one day to a trashed boarding room.
At first I thought a burglar had broken in but when I saw the happy faces of my room mates I got utterly confused.
They were actually playing pretend "It's my wedding day!" They had even used my bed sheet as a temporary veil.
They had everything planned out, the program of each of their weddings even up to the smallest detail of styles to be used for their wedding invitations and wedding cards.
I sat in my bed as I watched them turn the room into a mini altar.
With one eyebrow raised I thought, "Excited much, aren't they?" I suddenly flashed forward into the future, to the time when I'll be the one receiving wedding invitations and wedding cards one day and upon seeing my friends' names on them, I would gladly accept them.
I couldn't even begin to think what my reaction would be by then.
I also thought of the time when I'll be the one sending those wedding invitations and wedding cards.
What would happen by then? Would I be happy? One might think that a wedding should not be the one enveloping the mind of a student yet to graduate from college but what about the all-time favorite quote, "Time flies"? One might not notice it but indeed, time flies really fast.
We might not realize that we are already living the time we had only thought about in the past.
I've always believed that in order to make lesser mistakes in life, one should plan out one's future.
It may not be as detailed as my room mates' plans of their wedding invitations and wedding cards' styles but thinking about and preparing for the future will help us to better understand where our priorities really lie and help us avoid committing the same mistakes all throughout our lives.
So whether it is planning the details of your wedding invitations and wedding cards or just a simple outline of what you should do after you graduate from college, being excited that much should not lead to many expectations but hope instead.
Maybe if your plans work out well then everything might turn out fine.
Always remember, "Think before you leap" and that "a good plan always wins a battle".
Wouldn't life be the greatest battle one has to face? Even if I'd be using a wrong syllogism here, I wouldn't care.
I therefore conclude that a good life plan will help you win in life.
