    Numbness

    • Many people with multiple sclerosis will experience a feeling of numbness or weakness, typically on one side of the body at a time or on the upper or lower part of the body. A tingling sensation or pain can also be a symptom of MS.

    Vision Problems

    • In some cases, multiple sclerosis can result in complete or partial blindness, usually in one eye at a time. Oftentimes this blindness will be accompanied by pain when moving the eye. Other vision problems that can be a sign of MS include blurred vision or seeing double.

    Coordination

    • A loss of coordination or difficulty moving as a person once did is a sign of multiple sclerosis. An unsteady gait or difficulty walking are among the most common mobility problems people with multiple sclerosis experience.

    Fatigue

    • About 80 percent of people with multiple sclerosis will develop fatigue as a symptom of the condition. In many cases, the fatigue can be extreme and can begin to interfere with a person's daily life.

    Dizziness

    • Another common MS symptom is dizziness or a feeling of being lightheaded or off-balance. In more rare cases, people with the disease may experience vertigo, a condition in which the surroundings feel as though they are spinning.

    Other Symptoms

    • Other common symptoms of multiple sclerosis include bowel and bladder dysfunction, a change in sexual ability, depression, emotional changes and muscle tremors. More rare symptoms include headaches, trouble swallowing, breathing trouble, speech problems, seizures, hearing loss and itching.
