- 1). Wash the bowl and allow it to air dry. Sand any paint or varnish from the inside and outside of the bowl using medium sandpaper. Wipe the bowl down thoroughly. Then sand once again using fine sandpaper. Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove all sawdust and other particles.
- 2). Paint the inside of the bowl with black oil-based paint. Allow to air-dry outdoors. Drying may take up to 24 hours. Paint the inside with a second coat and allow to dry again.
- 3). Decorate the outside of your bowl with paint or a wood-burning tool.
