- Vermiculture reduces the amount of household garbage, along with the odor and pests associated with food waste. It produces high-quality compost, called vermicompost, and an abundance of worms that you can use or sell as fishing bait.
- Vermiculture is an inexpensive project. The only supplies needed are a wooden box or plastic bin, bedding made from paper or other materials found around the house, and a pound or two of worms from a bait shop or mail-order source.
- Vermicompost consists of worm castings, or digested material that has moved through the worms' digestive tract, along with decomposed food scraps and bedding.
