How to Bind Keys in "Call of Duty 4"
- 1). Navigate to the "Modern Warfare" profile folder in Microsoft Windows. If the game was installed using the default location, it will be at "C:\Program\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\player\profiles\." You will see folders that correspond to every profile that has been created in the game. Open the desired profile's folder.
- 2). Right click on the "config_mp.cfg" file and select "Copy." Right-click again on an empty section of the colder and select "Paste." This creates a copy of the configuration file in the folder that will be used as a backup in case something goes wrong.
- 3). Open the "config_mp.cfg" in Microsoft WordPad. Notepad will not be able to read or save the file correctly. To open the file, right-click on it and highlight "Open With," select "WordPad" from the options displayed.
- 4). Add your key bindings to the configuration file. The format for a key binding is "bind (Key) "(Command)"" (without the outside quotes). To bind the "F7" key to broadcast the words "Follow Me" to other players every time it is pressed, you would enter "bind F7 "say Follow Me" " (without the outside quotes). Save the file when finished.
- 5). Set temporary bindings during game play through the console. While in a game press the tilde key "~" located to the left of the "1" key. Type "/" followed by the bind command in the exact same format as in the configuration file. A temporary binding for "F7" will be "/bind F7 "say Follow Me" " (without the outside quotes).
