    • 2). Multiply the number by 0.001 and record the result for later use.

    • 3). Count the number of gradations between the largest visible number on the micrometer sleeve and the edge of the rotating thimble.

    • 4). Multiply the number of gradations you found by 0.0001 and record the result for later use.

    • 5). Determine the number on the rotating thimble that aligns with the straight indicator line on the micrometer sleeve.

    • 6). Multiply the number by 0.00001 and record the result for later use.

    • 7). Add the three values recorded in the previous steps.
