How to Troubleshoot a GE Profile Stove Top When Igniters Are All Clicking

    • 1). Turn the knob of the "Lite" position to the desired flame strength once the flame is established to get rid of the clicking sound.

    • 2). Position the lock control knob on the control panel to the "Unlock" position to disengage the burner safety feature, if your Profile cooktop has this option. When the burners are locked down, they will make a sound when the knobs are pressed and turned but will not ignite.

    • 3). Sop up any water or moisture that may have boiled over onto the burner depressions and under the burner caps with clean lint-free towels. Water from a boiled-over pot of pasta or from cleaning can drown the burners, blocking the gas from flowing, and cause the igniter to fail repeatedly as it clicks continuously to try to ignite.

    • 4). Turn off the electrical power that flows to the cooktop at the circuit breaker, then turn it back on. This may clear or reset the fuses and/or switches that are firing continuously and causing the persistent clicking.

    • 5). Clean any blockages in the tiny burner holes with the pointed tip of a sewing needle. Debris and buildup can cause encrustations or blockages where the gas flames emerge, causing failure to ignite and persistent clicking. Gently slide the needle tip into each small hole and jiggle it around gently, wiping the needle clean on a towel between each hole.
