How to Crimp Fish Lures

    • 1). Pass the tag end of the monofilament fishing line through one side of a double-barrel sleeve. The opening of the double-barrel sleeve should be just slightly larger than the diameter of the monofilament line.

    • 2). Slide the tag end of the monofilament through the eye of the fishing lure that you intend to use.

    • 3). Slide the tag end of the monofilament line through the second opening in the double-barrel sleeve. The monofilament should enter and exit the second sleeve opening in the opposite direction from which it entered and exited the first sleeve opening.

    • 4). Use a heat source (such as a match or cigarette lighter) to heat the tag end of the monofilament line protruding from the second sleeve opening. When the tag end becomes soft, flatten it against a hard surface.

    • 5). Position the double-barrel sleeve in the crimping tool, and then exert pressure on the handles of the crimping tool. The sleeve will compress under the pressure and trap the monofilament line in place.

    • 6). Trim the tag end of the monofilament that extends beyond the compressed double-barrel sleeve.
