Scholarships for Aerospace Engineering
- The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics provides scholarship money to both undergraduate and graduate aerospace engineering students through its Foundation Scholarship/Award Program. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible for awards of up to $2,500. Graduate students are eligible for awards of up to $10,000 through this program. To be eligible, a student must attend school in the U.S., be a student member of the AIAA in good standing and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3.
- NASA provides generous scholarship assistance to undergraduate and graduate-level aerospace engineering students through the Aeronautics Scholarship Program. Undergraduate students may be eligible for two years of support of up to $15,000 per year towards tuition and other educational expenses. Graduate students may be eligible for two to three years of support for $11,000 per year toward educational expenses, as well as a $35,000 stipend for personal expenses. Recipients must complete a summer internship at a NASA research center.
- NASA provides scholarship support and research opportunities to graduate aerospace engineering students through its Graduate Student Research Program. This program provides students with a yearly personal allowance of $20,000, and it is renewable for one year for master's students and for up to two years for PhD candidates. Applicants must be United States citizens to be eligible. Recipients are required to attend a 10-week research opportunity at NASA during the duration of their award. The annual deadline for application is March 1.
- The Society for Women Engineers offers several scholarships to female aerospace engineering students. The Honeywell International Inc. Scholarship is available to freshman aerospace engineering students in the amount of $5,000; an applicant must be a U.S. citizen and be able to demonstrate financial need to be considered. The Brill Family Scholarship is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors with a GPA of at least 3.0; this scholarship is valued at $1,000. Other SWE scholarships for aerospace engineering majors include the ITT Scholarship and The Judith Resnik Memorial Scholarship.
