Jamie Kennedy On His TV Show And Future Plans
< Continued from page 2
Were there any scenes that didn't make it into the movie that you really hated to see go?
There was a scene I had with Bo Derek where we get to know Brad a little bit more. I have therapy and afterwards she says, "You know Bradley, after our therapy session I realized that I haven't been the best of mothers and I want to be more close to you." I'm like, "Really?" And she's like, "Yeah, and I want to let you know…" And then a phone rings.
She goes, "Oh my God, hello? Celeste? You got it? Is it that pattern?" (Celeste is her personal shopper) "I'll be right there. What was I saying? Oh yeah, I want to be closer to you. Here's my cell phone."
That would have been good. Why did it get cut?
Because they thought it was long. I think it's funny, but it'll be on the DVD. They thought we already felt enough for Brad and they felt like we didn't need an overkill.
Is there any comedian/actor you model yourself after?
I’d say Eddie Murphy or Adam Sandler.
What is it about their careers you'd like to emulate?
They're smart, they're funny, and they have longevity. They tell their own stories. Steve Martin, too. And they do different things. They write, they produce, they are responsible for their own careers and I love that.
Do you think producing and writing allows you more control over the direction of your career?
Yes, because you get to tell the stories that you are good at, and the things that you are good at, instead of fitting yourself into something.
You know exactly what you want to do and you live by your sword or die by your sword.
You produce, you write, you act. Is there something you want to do that you haven't done yet?
I'm writing a book, a book about my story, a book about my life and how I came up in Hollywood. The different things that happened because a lot of funny sh*t happened to me. I'd like to do that.
I don't know, I just want to keep doing what I do. I like to be creative and I'm lucky that I have a couple of different outlets, and I'm lucky that I get to use them. I'd like to keep going on this path and working it, if I can.
Do you think there will come a point where you are just too recognizable to continue with your TV show, no matter what disguise you use?
No. Everybody says that, but I don't think so. There are so many people in the world and not everybody knows who I am, some people do, but I just don't think a lot of people know who I am. We can fool around and fool them in small towns using different disguises.
But being too recognizable means you're even more famous. That wouldn't be a bad thing.
Yeah, I guess, but we can change it around. I can do bits as myself. We'll change it psychologically. We can show me getting busted, that's always funny, too.
What's your next film project?
We're doing a movie that's going to be a romantic comedy, but it's going to be dark. I can't really tell you yet because we're still working on it. It's a romantic comedy that involves stalking in a funny way.
