How to Repair Explorer.exe From a CD

    • 1). Click the "Start" button, then click "All Programs" and "Accessories."

    • 2). Right-click the "Command Prompt" option and choose "Run as administrator." Type the administrator password, if prompted, then click "Allow."

    • 3). Type "sfc /scannow" into the command prompt and press the "Enter" key to launch the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans protected system files, including explorer.exe, to make sure they are present and not corrupted.

    • 4). Insert the Windows 7 installation disc into your optical disc drive when prompted and press "OK." The System File Checker tool will copy "explorer.exe" from the Windows disc to repair the corrupted file. The tool closes automatically when the scan is complete.

    • 5). Restart your computer to complete the repair process.
