How to Organise a Bathroom Cabinet

103 14
If you fear opening your bathroom cabinet like you'd fear putting your hand into the mouth of a terrifying monster then you may have a bit of a problem.
If products fall out and hit the floor, or your bare foot, and you have products in there that may have been around in the days when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth then you've definitely got a problem.
That problem is a cluttered cabinet.
It's easy enough to fill your bathroom cabinet up, and it may seem like a little thing but it's easy to get stressed about it too.
We go to get lengths to create a zen like atmosphere in our bathrooms and this can all fall apart once you open that cabinet door.
Thankfully these simple steps will have you organising your bathroom storage cabinets in no time at all.
The first thing is to eliminate your problem entirely, and that means pulling everything out to take a look at.
Doing this lets you see everything you've put in there - even that small bottle of sample shampoo hidden in the back - and start the process of deciding what to bin.
Be brutal, throw away everything you don't use or need; there's little point in keeping a product you used once and didn't like.
Anything that's past its expiration date, especially any medicines, should also go straight into the bin.
The trick is to buy only the things you need instead of things you might need but never get around to using them.
Also, don't buy similar products when you haven't finished with the one already in the cupboard.
Next up is making the most of the shelves in the bathroom cabinet, if it has any.
Make life easier for yourself by placing the things you use the most on the bottom shelf with products you use less on the upper shelves.
This saves time and stress as you don't have to search through your cabinets to find what you need in the random mess.
Plus, it will just look as cluttered as it was before you started the process to organise it.
If you don't have shelves in your cabinet then consider fitting some small shelves into it yourself, providing there's enough space of course.
It's easier to organise things when you have shelves, and looks a lot better to anyone opening it.
If you're just slipping the shelves in then try not to put anything overly heavy on them, you don't want a gooey mess of a broken shower gel bottle all over your floor.
If putting in shelves isn't an option then consider buying a new bathroom cabinet altogether.
Just remember that shelves must be used efficiently! Instead of shelves you can separate your cabinet into compartments if it's big enough.
Buy some small drawers or baskets - or even make your own - and group products into related piles to go into these; such as putting facial products together in one section.
If you haven't the space to do this you can attach metal objects, such as scissors and tweezers, to the insides of the cabinet with a magnet.
If it's not magnetic then you could install your own small hooks.
