Table Decorations for Receptions & Parties
- Purchase a giant cocktail glass, such as a margarita glass or a martini glass, and use it for your table decorations. Place the martini glass at the center of your table and fill it with something that coordinates with your party. For example, for a holiday party, fill the glasses with ornament balls. For a cocktail party, fill the glasses with lemons or limes. You could also fill the glasses with crushed tissue paper or tinsel.
- Make a fall table decoration using branches. Consider this design if you don't want to use flowers or if you want the look of a winter wonderland. Choose a tall vase and place it at the center of the table. Fill the vase with branches painted to coordinate with the colors you chose for your party. To give the branches more visual interest, consider hanging crystals from them.
- Make a table decoration using food. For example, if you are throwing an Italian-themed party, place jars in different shapes and sizes at the center of the tables. Fill the jars with different types of pasta. Carve sturdy fruits and vegetables, such as melons and squashes, so that they can hold candles and place them at the centers of the tables. Fill large bowls or vases with a fruit or vegetable in the color of the rest of your party decor. Consider lemons, limes or oranges for a vibrant splash of color.
- Choose photographs for your party centerpieces if you are throwing a birthday party or another event in which a person is the guest of honor. Choose photo trees for the center of each table. Place pictures on the photo tree featuring the person with his family and friends so that the guests can enjoy them.
