    • 1). Clean your PC regularly to keep all files and programs, including MSN in good health. Be sure to keep windows regularly updated as well as keeping your PC free of viruses and malware using anti-spy and anti-viral software. Defragment your computer regularly or after adding new programs.

    • 2). Download only the latest stable version of MSN. This will ensure the stability of the software with more current version operating systems. Reinstall MSN should you find that the program has become corrupted.

    • 3). Turn off your anti-spyware programs as they may affect the installations process for your MSN software. Make sure you have a proper amount of disk space to facilitate the program. You can free up disk space by using the disk cleanup application.

    • 4). Check your firewall settings. You may need to manually allow access for MSN. Click "Start" and "Control Panel." Locate and left click "Windows Firewall." Click the "Exceptions" tab. Click "Add Programs." This will bring up a list of programs from which to choose from. Locate and add MSN to the list of program exceptions.

    • 5). Check your network settings. Some shared networks may be set to block messenger programs such as MSN messenger. This is a measure of security for the network. If you do not have access to your firewalls settings on your network or are operating through a proxy server you will need to contact your systems administrator. He should be able to assist you in connecting.
