Pontiac Vibe Vs. Toyota Matrix
- As of August 2009, the two cars are priced virtually the same. The Vibe comes in slightly lower at $16,100 to $20,875. The Matrix is $16,290 to $20,760.
- The two cars get the same gas mileage. Both claim 20 to 26 miles per gallon in the city and 26 to 32 on the highway.
- The vehicles do not differ on National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards either. Both rate five stars for front (driver's and passenger's side) as well as side of front seat crash tests. Both models received four stars for side of rear seat and rollover resistance tests.
- The same engine goes into both cars, a 132-horsepower, 1.8 liter I-4. The Vibe and Matrix offer a choice of a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.
- The Toyota is covered for three years or 36,000 miles under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. The drivetrain is under warranty for five years or 60,000 miles. Rust is covered for up to five years with unlimited miles. The Pontiac has the same basic warranty, bu the drivetrain is under warranty for five years or 100,000 miles with roadside assistance during that time period. The vehicle is warrantied against rust for five years or 100,000 miles.
