.Harmful Effects of Smoking on Women’s Fertility

Why should people stop smoking? For one, women should stop smoking because of its harmful effects on her fertility and reproductive health! Any stop smoking seminar will tell you that smoking effects can make a woman significantly less fertile or even worse increase her risk of a miscarriage. Losing an unborn baby is something so painful and dreadful, that we should do everything to minimize the risk of that happening – and quitting smoking is one of the best ways to do so.

Did you know that smoking can also lead to one’s baby having an abnormally low birth weight, or even worse, cot death? In addition, smoking not only harms the child but the mother as well as research studies have shown that smoking does significantly increase a woman’s risk of getting cervical cancer. With these harmful effects of smoking in mind, perhaps more answers to “Why quit smoking?” are more apparent. If you have any compassion at all, you would think of your unborn baby as smoke you inhale goes straight to your baby’s lungs, preventing quite a lot of oxygen from entering instead. Quitting is never an easy process, but do get some tips to stop smoking from your doctor, or from friends who have successfully quit smoking if you want to ensure that you are fertile and healthy, and that your baby is well and unharmed as well.

In addition, smoking apparently causes women to experience early menopause or perhaps even more menopausal symptoms during that stage. If you are dreading that stage of your life when you get hot flushes and feel irritable and easily frustrated, quit smoking today to save you the extra stress at that point in your life. Call up some stop smoking organizations or try some gum or patches on yourself to help you in this process.

Like how smoking can decrease a man’s sperm count and lower his fertility, smoking can also decrease a woman’s egg count. This is because the chemicals that enter your body when you smoke could seriously destruct the eggs in your ovaries before they even reach a stage of maturity. As such, conceiving a baby would be much harder, given the rarity of your matured eggs. Hence, it is ideal to stop smoking as soon as possible, especially if you are hoping to conceive in the future.
