How to Change the Default Editor in Ubuntu 9.10

    • 1). Click on the "Menu" button located in the upper left corner of your screen.

    • 2). Select "Terminal," which is located under "System Tools."

    • 3). Type "sudo update-alternatives --config editor" into the terminal, and press "Enter."

    • 4). Type the number of the text editor you want to use from the options displayed. Your current default editor is indicated by a "+" sign to the left.
