How to Travel Between Copenhagen & Germany
- 1). Choose an approximate time for your departure by rail, morning, afternoon or evening. Rail schedules vary from day to day, but many have multiple trips per day.
- 2). Purchase a rail pass. Railways vary in speed and price. There are also passes that allow you to travel to and from your destination during an extended period of time. If you are planning on returning to Denmark, it may be worth getting an unlimited pass. Also, if you are traveling through three or four other adjacent countries, you may buy a pass that allows you unlimited use of railways throughout those countries. If you plan on traveling further, you may also purchase passes for unlimited use of railways throughout Europe. You can purchase a pass online up to two months in advance or you at Copenhagen Central Station.
- 3). Go to Copenhagen Central Station. It is located on Banegårdspladsen 7, 1570 Copenhagen V. There is public transportation to the train station from most parts of the city. Central Station is served by S-trains, regional trains, InterCity and international trains.
- 4). Find which platform your train will leave from and wait by your dock number. If you purchase your ticket the day of travel, these numbers may be printed on your ticket. If you purchase in advance, you may need to visit a directory. If you have trouble navigating, Copenhagen Central Station offers a service center designed especially for youth and foreign travelers. Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure time.
- 5). Enter train, take a seat, and wait to arrive at your destination. The train may be going to a variety of places in Germany. Some cities, such as Hamburg, do not require a transfer. Others such as Berlin will require a transfer.
- 1). Book an airline ticket with one of Copenhagen Airport's variety of airlines. You may do this online, or call the airline. Airlines that fly to Germany include EasyJet, Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines with destinations such as Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin.
- 2). Travel to Copenhagen Airport, in Danish, Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup. It is located on Terminalgade 2770 Kastrup. It is accessible by taxi, bus, and railway. Arrive an hour and a half early.
- 3). Check in at your airline's kiosk. Check any bags.
- 4). Board the plane. Wait to land in Germany.
- 1). Go to Copenhagen's bus station, Valby Station, located on Mellemtoftevej 2500 Valby. Arrive 20 minutes early if you know the bus schedule.
- 2). Purchase tickets from Abildskou bus line 888 from Copenhagen to Aarhus. You may want to do this online in advance or you may purchase from the bus driver. This line runs once daily except on Saturday.
- 3). Board the bus and wait until you reach Aarhus bus station.
- 4). In Aarhus, switch buses and board another Abildskou bus line from Aarhus to Berlin. If you have not made seat reservations, purchase a ticket from the bus driver. This bus line has stops in Hamburg and Berlin.
