It Takes More Than Talent to Tackle and Transverse Turbulent and Troubling Times

Henry Kissinger's study of political impasse and his essays of the 1960s are of great interest to those in the diplomatic community.
Indeed, upon reading this a researcher might conclude that it takes more than popularity or talent to preserve the peace.
And with the world so close together and globalization in full swing, it's amazing that more of these disputes do not lead to political impasse and war.
As we face the 2008 Presidential Elections, we realize just how serious things are.
Recently, North Korea has totally reneged on its pledge to stop nuclear weapons manufacturing.
Some are not surprised as Iran has told the UN, EU and US to take a hike and they have stated; we will not halt our nuclear programs.
If you will recall Iran has stated that it will blow Israel off the map, has sent weapons into Iraq to kill US troops and funds Hezbollah to the tune of some 100 million per year.
This is not the only thing that the new US President must deal with, Russia is flexing its muscle and the Bear is back.
There are problems in Venezuela and Bolivia, and Cuba is not a done deal either.
Meanwhile, the US is competing with China for resources all over the World.
Then there are challenges in Pakistan and the horror continues in Africa.
The Chinese Philosopher who made the comment; "May you live in interesting times," comes to mind.
