Homemade Smoker Box
- 1). Select a refrigerator that features only one door.
- 2). Remove the door latch so as to avoid the risk of children locking themselves inside of the refrigerator.
- 3). Remove the motor and, if so equipped, the freezer compartment.
- 4). Remove all plastic and rubber interior components.
- 5). Cut two one-inch holes at the top of both sides of the refrigerator with a hole saw to allow the smoke to escape.
- 6). Drill several small holes at the bottom of both sides of the refrigerator with a drill to serve as a draft.
- 7). Attach a pole or hooks to the top of the interior of the refrigerator. Use the holes cut in step 5 as attaching points.
- 8). Position a hot plate or a fire cup at the bottom of the interior of the refrigerator for a heat source. Do not build a fire on the actual floor of the refrigerator.
- 1). Clean the interior of the drum thoroughly to remove all traces of paint, oil and other contaminants. If any doubt exists as to whether or not the drum is clean, purchase a new drum.
- 2). Cut a small door in the lower half of the drum with a reciprocating saw to serve as a draft and to access the fire.
- 3). Cut holes in the upper half of the drum with a reciprocating saw to serve as attaching points for food trays.
- 4). Position the drum's lid loosely onto the top of the drum to allow smoke to escape.
