Buenos Aires Food Tour
BA Food Tours:
Going around town with a local is always preferable to going it alone. This is one reason behind the success of BA Food Tours. Friendly and knowledgeable guides take visitors to the must-see sites as well as the hidden-away gems of three well known Buenos Aires barrios, La Boca, San Telmo, and Recoleta. All along the way, delicious tastes of the city are served with sides of great conversation and lessons on history, culture, and architecture.
La Boca Food Tour:
La Boca is one of the most photographed barrios in Buenos Aires. It's colorful buildings and famous Calle Caminito street are the perfect backdrop for tasting classic Argentine cuisine. The large murals, whimsical statues, and tango dancers make for great stroll.
The tour begins at a pizzeria opened in 1932, the birthplace of an original Argentine dish - fugazzeta. A healthy portion of this Italian inspired delight is served with your choice of wine, beer, or water. All the while, the terrific guide will give you some background about the dish and history of the restaurant.
Next, the tour ambles through the vibrant Calle Caminito and stops at a lively parilla. Sitting beneath large umbrellas and enjoying an outdoor tango show and music, guests will enjoy empanadas “cortadas a cuchillo” paired with wines from the Salta region. Finally, a grand spread of chorizo (sausages), steak, and salad is presented with even more wine.
The tour winds down with a stop at a cafe, its walls clad with pictures of famous celebrity and sports figures of the past.
Guests can pep up on caffeine and sugar with a coffee and pastry before the tour comes to a close.
