Scribd is a free online file storage and sharing community that allows you to upload files in any format, store it under your account online, have it indexed by search engines or share it with social networks and friends. All you must do is register for an account.

    • 2). Use Google Docs (docs.google.com) to upload small files. Google Docs is an online tool that not only allows you to upload small documents off of your computer but also allows you to create files to share with friends as well. Sign into Google Docs using your existing Google account or create a new Google account. Google Docs is free to use, and can be used to share documents, spreadsheets, presentations and images.

    • 3). Use 4Shared.com to upload small files. 4Shared is an FTP server that allows you to store up to 10GB of data. Upload files to 4Shared for your own personal use, or share files with friends by sending out a link to the file or folder. 4Shared is free to use; simply create an account to get started.

    Uploading a Small File

    • 1). Log-in to the website where you wish to upload your file. If you do not yet have an account, register for a account using a username and password you will easily remember.

    • 2). Click on the "Upload" button or link. A window will pop-up with a view of all of the files on your computer. Locate the file you want to upload, click on it to highlight it and click the "Choose," "OK," or "Select" button.

    • 3). Wait for the file to upload, and then preview the document to make sure it properly uploaded. Set the privacy settings to private or public, depending on your preference. Share the file through email, a link or your social networks.
