How to Load NetMeeting

    • 1). Click "Start," then "Run." Enter "conf" (without quotes) in the "Open" box. Press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your computer's keyboard. The "NetMeeting" wizard will appear.

    • 2). Click "Next." Enter your first and last name in the "First Name" and "Last Name" boxes. Enter your email address in the "E-mail Address" box. Enter your city and state in the "Location" box.

    • 3). Click "Next." Select whether you would like your name and location listed within "Microsoft Internet Directory" by clicking in the box next to "Log on to a directory server when NetMeeting starts." Click "Next."

    • 4). Click on the circle next to the type of Internet connection you are using: "14400 bps modem"; "28800 bps or faster modem"; "Cable, xDSL or ISDN"; or "Local Area Network." Click "Next."

    • 5). Confirm that you want to create a shortcut for NetMeeting on your computer's desktop and on the Quick Launch bar. Click "Next."

    • 6). Click "Next" on the "Audio Tuning Wizard" screen. Click "Test" to test your computer's audio connection. Click "Stop" when you hear the repeating tone--your computer's audio connection is OK. If you don't hear the tone, check your computer's speakers and that the "Mute" option is not on by clicking on the speaker icon in the System Tray near the clock. Then press "Test" again.

    • 7). Click "Next." The Audio Tuning Wizard will now check your computer's microphone connection. You will see a green bar moving--this indicates your system's microphone is working. Click "Next." If you don't see the green bar moving, check your computer's microphone connection and controls by clicking on the speaker icon in the System Tray by the clock. Click the "Back" button and then the "Next" button to test your microphone connection again.

    • 8). Click "Finish." NetMeeting will load and prompt you with a security warning. Click "Unblock." The program's interface will finish loading.

    • 9). Click "Call," then "New Call." Enter the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the remote computer you want to call in the "To" box. Click "Call" to start the connection.
