Remove Recovery Partition Using Recovery Manager

• 1). Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your home screen.
  
  
• 2). Type "Recovery" in the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu. Click "Recovery Manager" in the Search Results box that appears above the Search box when you start typing in text. The Recovery Manager window will appear.
  
  
• 3). Click "Advanced Options" in your list of choices.
  
  
• 4). Choose "Remove recovery partition." Click "Next."
  
  
• 5). Choose "Yes" when a window appears asking if you are certain you want to remove the partition. Click "Next." Your HP laptop will initiate the process to format your recovery partition, remove the partition, and merge that space with your C: drive.
  
  

Remove Recovery Partition Using Windows Computer Management

• 1). Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your screen.
  
  
• 2). Right-click "Computer" on the right side of the Start menu and then click "Manage." The Computer Management window will open.
  
  
• 3). Click "Storage" on the left side of the Computer Management window.
  
  
• 4). View a list of existing partitions on your hard drive by clicking "Disk Management."
  
  
• 5). Right-click "Recovery Partition" and then click "Delete Volume." A message will pop up asking if you are sure you want to erase all data on the recovery partition. Click "Yes."
  
  

Uninstall Recovery Manager

• 1). Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your screen.
  
  
• 2). Click "Control Panel."
  
  
• 3). Click "Uninstall a Program."
  
  
• 4). Scroll through the list of options until you find "HP Backup and Recovery Manager." Right-click "HP Backup and Recovery Manager" and click "Remove."
  
  
• 5). Click "Yes" to verify that you want to uninstall the HP Backup and Recovery Manager to initiate the removal process. When your computer has successfully uninstalled the HP Backup and Recovery Manager and formatted the recovery partition, you will still have a C: drive and a D: drive, but your D: drive will no longer have the partition on it--you will be able to use it as a second hard drive.
