A moment spent is irretrievable, until of course unless you are a super hero in some sci-fi movie or you have a time machine handy. Time just slips away through your fingers and all you are left with is this nine letter word that spells out N O S T A L G I A. But it does not stop here, your memories become fuzzy with time and something precious like a fond memory that you might have cherished throughout your life, something very close to your heart is lost to the vagaries of time. As the time marches on you begin to lose the photographic recollection of a subject, then the context and then the reason for which you remembered it, till you reach a point where even the slightest recollection fades away and you are left completely blank. Depressing,right! Well that is how our memory usually work. But don't you worry, the tirade was just a part of my musings on life in general.

Now, if you think that I am going to break into a discussion about amnesia or schizophrenia then I beg to differ, because this has more to do with photographs if not anything else. The point that I am trying to drive is that, not only do we live on a physical worldly plane, but we also exist as memories and stories in the minds of our loved ones. In fact we are as alive as stories in each other's minds, these are the stories that we can't afford to lose. But the memories can be transient, so they need to be reclaimed and the stories rewritten. That is where photographs come into the picture, not only do they embody your memories but they ignite our imaginations. No matter how much the things change, you can always go back to them and lose yourself in nostalgia.

A photograph is much more than just a visual, it is a freeze frame of time brought alive within your memory, a time that you would like to reclaim. My brother's wedding took place in Fateh Garh, it is a relatively new heritage hotel located picturesquely on a hillock that overlooks Udaipur's lake Pichola. The view presented from the terrace of the hotel is nothing less than breathtaking. I have often visited the place since then and will probably continue to do so in the future.
