How to Detect Water in the Lungs
- 1). Have a chest X-ray performed, as any voids or dark areas in the X-ray will reveal the presence of any fluid in the lung space.
- 2). Opt for an electrocardiogram. The EKG test is the best way to detect the presence of fluid in the air compartments of the lungs by displaying the rhythm of heartbeats as lines on a blank EKG sheet.
- 3). Get a blood oxygen level test done. The levels of oxygen are usually found low in people who have fluid in the lung compartments. Fluid in the lungs occupies the space that was meant for oxygen.
