• Several singles cruise lines offer shared living spaces where singles can mingle and get to know each other. Guests are set up in single bedrooms, but bedrooms open onto a shared seating and dining area, unlike other cruise lines where every stateroom opens onto a long, impersonal corridor. • There are some cruise lines that offer a roommate matching services for singles. The only criteria they use to match roommates is gender and smoking preference, so you may get stuck with someone you don't have much in common with. • Barefoot cruises are less expensive than other options and include staterooms with many pullout beds, kind of like summer camp. • If you happen to be an older man looking for some same-age female companionship, there are some luxury cruise lines that cater to you specifically. Since women tend to live longer than men, there is a surplus of older, single women, many of whom enjoy the cruising lifestyle. Older single men get deep discounts on these cruises (due to the numbers problem) and have their pick of eligible bachelorettes on the cruise. If you happen to enjoy luxury, but can't necessarily afford it, this may be a good match for you.
